HCSA enters talks with Government on consultant pay

Following notification of our strike ballot, HCSA has received an invitation from the Department of Health and Social Care to begin talks with the aim of resolving the consultant pay dispute.

HCSA President Dr Naru Narayanan commented “Opening talks is a significant step forward. We are pleased to see that the persistent determination of consultants has brought the government to the table.

"We have stressed to the Health Secretary that a serious plan to address pay erosion is the only way out of this dispute. Doctors need to see an end to the cycle of disparaging pay review outcomes.

“We urge all consultant and SAS members in England to participate in our formal ballot so that HCSA can bring a strong hand to negotiations and robustly represent the views of our membership.”

HCSA’s formal strike ballot is open until midday on Wednesday 15th November for eligible consultant and SAS doctors in England.

If you are a consultant or SAS member in England and have not yet received a ballot paper, please contact conspec@hcsa.com without delay.
