HCSA unveils new partnership to bring members pensions and financial advice

HCSA has today announced a new partnership with Quilter Financial Advisers to help guide members facing pension decisions and other financial questions.

Members and their families will be able to access a free, no obligation initial consultation with an expert financial adviser to discuss your circumstances and find out how you could benefit from financial advice.

The agreement will also mean regular updates and education events will be available to all HCSA members.

Quilter Financial Advisers’ areas of expertise include the NHS Pension scheme but also wider financial advice, protection products and mortgage-brokering.

HCSA pensions committee chair Dr Sarah Tennant, who has led negotiations on the new partnership, said: “We know that many of our Consultant members are desperately trying to navigate the NHS pensions maze and live in fear of huge tax bills.

“The DIY approach to working out pensions tax and other financial planning is often a false economy. That’s why we have partnered with one of the leading experts in the NHS Pension Scheme to ensure our members have good-quality advice and information.”

HCSA President Dr Naru Narayanan said: “We know that pensions is one of the biggest issues facing hospital doctors. While we continue to campaign for reform of the tax and other rules, we as doctors need to arm ourselves with expert advice.

“Quilter Financial Advisers has years of experience in the intricacies of the issues doctors face, which is so often lacking elsewhere. This isn’t just a service for Consultants, either. It’s important that all grades of doctor have access to good-quality expert advice.”

Lee Barnard, Business Development Director at Quilter Financial Advisers said:

“We are delighted that we have secured this new partnership with HCSA, which will enable us to support members with expert advice regarding the potential complexities of their pension arrangements, whilst setting this in the context of their full financial planning requirements. We look forward to further progressing our relationship with HCSA over the coming years.”
