HCSA to submit supplementary evidence to the DDRB



The HCSA has been asked to submit supplementary evidence to the DDRB following our detailed submission at the end of 2014. This time we will be responding specifically to sections of the evidence submitted by both the Department of Health and NHS Employers. You can read their full evidence below.

Following the breakdown in the negotiations between the Government and the British Medical Association, the DDRB were asked to Our Contracts sub-committee is currently working on the details to be included. The main areas that we will be concentrating on will be the delivery of a seven day service, clinical excellence awards, pay progression and contract reform. If there are any points you wish to see included please contact HCSA headquarters. In our first submission we responded to Dr Dan Poulter’s special remit letter which called on the DDRB to:

The special remit letter asks the Doctors and Dentists Review Body (DDRB) to:

 

“Make observations based on information and data presented on pay related proposals for reforming the consultants contract to better facilitate the delivery of health care services seven days a week in a financially sustainable way i.e. without increasing the existing spend.”

 

The letter went on to say:

 

“The DDRB should also consider the following, including work already completed by the parties to the negotiations:

  • The work by the DDRB on the payment of clinical excellence awards (CEA’s) and the Government’s response to  that
  • Proposals for pay progression linked to responsibility and performance; and
  • Arrangements in other sectors which provide seven day services.”
