PRESS STATEMENT: Senior hospital doctors welcome news of juniors deal

The Hospital Consultants and Specialists Association (HCSA), the only TUC-affiliated professional association and trade union dedicated solely to hospital doctors, has welcomed news of a possible resolution to the long-running junior doctors' contract dispute following ACAS talks.

Commenting on the news, HCSA President Professor Ross Welch said: "Senior hospital doctors will welcome what appears to be a negotiated settlement to the junior doctors dispute.

"The HCSA has maintained all along that imposition could not work and it appears that this position has now been accepted.

"The safety and well-being of patients is the top priority of all those delivering care in our hospitals.

"We hope that this proposed deal will now allow the whole NHS family to focus fully on delivering the world-class services for which our health system is renowned."
