The timetable for the 2018 National Clinical Excellence Awards round has been announced:
1) Tuesday 13th February - ACCEA round opens
2) 5pm Thursday 12th April - round closes
The Hospital Consultants and Specialists Association is one of the recognised ACCEA national nominating bodies and is permitted to nominate a limited number of applicants but is also keen to help members with supportive citations.
HCSA will be convening a CEA panel in mid-March, and those members seeking support for their application are advised to email their completed CVQ to sgeorge@hcsa.com applying for HCSA support, including an accompanying citation, by close of business on Tuesday 27th February 2018. Regretfully late applications cannot be considered.
As in previous years HCSA hopes to support nominations for National Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum excellence awards. Particular consideration will be given to applicants who can demonstrate that they have supported the aims and objectives of HCSA.
Please read the Guidance to Applicants – which will become available on the Advisory Committee on Clinical Excellence Awards’ (ACCEA) pages when the round opens – carefully before completing your application.
There are useful hints and reminders about how to present your achievements in the best possible way.
Ensure that you follow the guidance. Use dates wherever possible, avoid acronyms and repetition. The personal statement is not normally scored by assessors, so do not include anything in the personal statement which is not also included in the relevant domain.
Since the timetable does not leave long for the HCSA nomination and citation process, those requesting HCSA support are advised to arrange for someone who knows them to draft a supportive citation and to submit this to the HCSA with their application for support.
As the awards are for achievements over and above those expected, this must be the principal focus of your application. Work that is already remunerated as part of your normal contractual duties or has been rewarded by previous clinical excellence awards should only be cited when there have been clear developments in this area or further excellence demonstrated.
Members should be aware that it is their responsibility and not HCSA’s to ensure that they complete the CVQ form on ACCEA’s website and submit it by their closing date.
