The Hospital Consultants and Specialists Association (HCSA) is nationally recognised for the purposes of negotiating the pay and terms of service for Hospital Doctors. It is the largest TUC-affiliated trade union and professional association which exclusively represents all hospital doctors in the NHS.
A vacancy has arisen for a part-time National Officer to cover South London and the South Coastal area. National Officers play a key role in supporting members at the workplace, conducting local negotiations at Trust level, enhancing the profile of our organisation and conducting recruitment and organising campaigns. You will be joining a team of highly skilled and motivated officers dedicated to representing, protecting and promoting the interests of our members.
To provide expert advice to individual and collective representation for members. Appearing before Trust enquiries/hearings/panels such as non-clinical disciplinary procedures, grievance procedures, job plan and appeals. To support members in redundancy, TUPE and re-structuring of service issues and to be a powerful advocate for members in the workplace. To undertake local initiatives to recruit new members, and expand the numbers of our local hospital representatives and local HCSA negotiators networks.
You should have experience and a thorough understanding of the industrial relations environment and workplace advocacy and have a track record of achievement in this area. Knowledge of the health service and its employment procedures for medical staffs is desirable but not essential. Good leadership and motivational skills and an ability to influence people at all levels are required. The ability to work on one's own initiative yet also as part of a committed team is essential.
This is a great opportunity to join an organisation as we enter our next period of growth and development.
