HCSA invites Foundation doctors to join with a 50pc reduction in annual rates

Foundation doctors now have even more reason to join HCSA following a 50 per cent reduction in annual rates.

The decision to lower prices for doctors at the start of their careers follows a review instigated by the Junior Doctors Committee.

Foundation grades in years one and two can now secure membership for just £50 paid annually, or £5 for a monthly payment.

The change comes in recognition of the financial challenges facing many younger doctors after they take up their first medical posts.

Existing Foundation grade members will also benefit from the price reduction.

Explaining the move backed by the HCSA Executive last month, HCSA President Dr Claudia said: “HCSA is unique in its focus on hospital doctors, wherever they are in their career.

“While our rates are generally competitive, we feel that the decision to reduce prices for Foundation is a fair measure for our lowest paid colleagues which we hope will encourage many more to become part of the HCSA family in future.

“In return they will not only get affordable access to expert support and advice, but will be joining the vibrant HCSA community of hospital doctors, whose aim is to advocate, advance and protect the rights of the profession nationally and locally.”
