HCSA has announced the launch of a consultative ballot of members in England on the government pay offer announced yesterday.
The government pay offer for hospital doctors in England covered by national contracts is:
- 3% for Consultants
- 3% for SAS grades who have not moved onto the new (2021) contract
- no uplift to the 2% for Junior Doctors currently in their third year of a four-year deal
- no uplift for SAS grades who have moved to the new 2021 contract
- no uplift to the value of CEAs
Members will shortly receive their indicative ballot by email, which will seek views from all grades covered by national contracts on industrial action over the pay announcement. The consultative ballot will be open until 12 noon on August 10th.
Depending on the results of this process HCSA may ballot formally for industrial action.
In parallel, HCSA’s ruling Council shall meet to consider the HCSA's approach.
HCSA President Dr Claudia Paoloni said: “HCSA, like many other health unions, is now seeking to measure the strength of feeling among members at the prospect of industrial action over the government’s pay offer.
“We would urge all members to participate in this consultative ballot process in order to inform our next steps.”
Members are advised that they will need to provide an NHS workplace in order to be able to take part in the consultative ballot. If you have not given us details of your workplace, please email membership@hcsa.com to provide these.
