HCSA Executive urges members to vote Yes in consultative pay ballot

HCSA has today recommended that members in England vote Yes to industrial action as it opened a consultative ballot over pay.

All members employed on national terms and conditions in England are eligible to vote in the process, which closes at noon on Friday 16th September.

The Council and Executive Committee will then meet to discuss the outcome and agree next steps, including a formal ballot for industrial action should members deliver the mandate to do so.

HCSA’s Executive Committee has issued the following statement:

“We recommend HCSA members vote YES to take industrial action in this consultation. The NHS is already chronically understaffed and we are losing experienced doctors who simply do not feel valued.

“The 4.5 percent pay award is a threat to the stability of the medical workforce. Even worse, it cruelly excludes junior doctors and many SAS doctors, showing disregard for the vital work they do and ever-worsening morale in the NHS. It is time to act. This consultation is an important step.

“It is essential that you participate to give us the mandate to move forward. We urge you to vote YES and to encourage colleagues to do the same. Together we are stronger.”
