HCSA opens member referendum on junior doctor pay offer

HCSA - the hospital doctors' union has today launched a referendum of members on the government pay offer to junior doctors in England.

Junior doctor members are being asked whether they wish to accept or reject the offer.

Announcing the vote in a joint statement, the HCSA Junior Doctors Committee said:

"We understand this offer will feel deeply personal to all who have made sacrifices over the past two years to reach this point. We also appreciate it will divide opinion.

"The HCSA JDC is not making a recommendation to members on whether to accept or reject. Instead, we will be led by our membership.

"Whatever the outcome, this is a call to arms for HCSA members to get active in our union and build on our successes for the future.

"As a Committee our focus remains on the journey towards full pay restoration - to ensure doctors' skills are respected and that the profession remains credible for the next generation.

"We need your energy and ideas to drive our campaigns forwards and achieve the aim of full pay restoration."

The referendum takes place online. Members vote at the link provided to them via email. The referendum will close at 23:59 on 22nd September.

Members can view full details of the offer in HCSA's member briefing. Any further questions should be directed to conspec@hcsa.com for advice.
